Back into the Fire…
We need Universal Health Insurance, like yesterday.
I’ve been absent from Medium for a while now. Sorry about that, this is a hobby.
I haven’t had time for hobbies, nor money for much of anything either.
I’m “fortunate” enough to be poor enough to have Medicaid, the only decent health insurance in the United States.
Unlike civilized nations, our taxes pay for war preparation and international intrigue. Not things like taking care of those unnecessary bones in your jaw. Peasants and low wage cretins don’t need that, they can eat gruel.
All this lead-in to say that my wife had a filling break, and we had to go in debt thousands of dollars for something that would be covered or at least subsidized in a civilized nation.
I don’t get it. I never have. Even when I was considered to be right-leaning. There is literally no logic to a movement or country that supports with unthinking passion literally any amount of military expenditure but doesn’t want the government to “interfere” with private industry by providing basic needs that only the rich can afford out of pocket.
It does not make sense.
I understand the urge for limited governance. I agree with it. The government should be, ideally, responsive to the actual needs of citizens while…
