Conservative Cognitive Dissonance
Or, how not to be a traitor to your species
Logically speaking, All conservatives should be vocal supporters of tax-supported universal health care.
Since logic isn’t their strong point, or really even a point they care to embrace, we must take it to them in terms they cannot escape.
How, you may ask? I have an idea on that!
They love, love, LOVE to point out the alleged consequences of literally any liberal or (Their Weak God forbid!!!) Progressive cause or policy. Why can’t liberals and progressives play the same game, with the same ferocity? I’m sure I can. It should be relatively simple as we have a great deal of facts and history to draw from, and all they got is a dusty old Iron Age instruction manual on how not to order a society.
Our weakness has always been our inclusiveness, and ability to see the other’s point even if we disagree. We, liberals and progressives, concede that others might have a different point of view. We’re even willing to hear it, to see if there is common ground. To see, in fact, if we might even agree with parts of it.
American Conservatives (and I’m thinking British as well, based on the news..) do not CARE what anyone else thinks. But they care about fantastical consequences.
