I hate this line of thought. Not because it's over the top, but because it isn't.

Even Goddard himself has been saying that there are incredible parallels to the US right now and the decline and fall of the Weimar republic.

What I find even more weird and frightening is that the GOP no longer even has any ideas. Their entire focus is on what they are AGAINST. Back 40 years ago, they had ideas. And they ran with 'em. Turns out those ideas were a grand failure, but they at least had them. If they had any remaining honor, they'd admit that they need to revise their philosophy.

Instead, they've abandoned any pretense and principle. And they're winning.
