I really think we need to discard the whole "left-right" talking points. It has ceased to really have much meaning, though the right (traditionally the Monarchists) does still seem to fit the category loosely.

We need practical solutions, something I call "Practicalism". The short form of what that means is that we stop giving a damn about who proposed an idea and instead evaluate it on it's merits.

Both the left and the right claimants have accused me of cherry-picking because of this. I must proudly plead guilty to this. Why shouldn't we cherry pick? What real use do parties have, if both of them are just sucking the life out of the bottom?

It's rather odd, honestly, how far things have moved. Ten years ago, I was frequently called a right winger. I wasn't, but neither was I left. I guess "other" would be the best description, but in online discussions I long made the assumption that I had made my point when I got called a capitalist and a socialist in the same thread.

I am a practicalist, which means I take political and social ideas from all sides and try to find what works. Mostly Progressive.
