I should like to point out the error in your thinking.

No, really, I'd love to. But I can't.

I wrote the article with a slightly different audience in mind, though. Well, partially. It would be nice if the hardcore Trumpistas would wake the fuck up, but I really don't see that happening.

But there's another sort of conservative, the kind I used to be, and they are reachable. Like a mule, you need a 2x4 to get their attention (yes, I was that guy), but once you got their attention they do what the Republican base seems incapable of.

They think.

It literally took me a decade to see what was obvious to the left back then. I don't think I'm a stupid man, but the right is an echo chamber with jealously guarded gates. It's physically and mentally taxing to get around a lifetime of conditioning.

I've always been one to think about things, which as you might imagine put me frequently at odds with the religious and political right, even though I agreed with a lot of their economic philosophy. I never really bought into the whole controlling of everyone except the top tier thing, but that's a whole 'nother thing.

Once a conservative starts to wake up, they go through a lot of pain. I try to be the guy they can talk to, because I was there, and went here. I hope that makes sense.

I am a practicalist, which means I take political and social ideas from all sides and try to find what works. Mostly Progressive.
