I sounds like you're describing MMT there, and I'm not as well versed in it as I would like to be.
That being said, I agree with you, but the taxation does have a part to play, even under MMT. It essentially is a hedge against inflation.
This article was mainly a short polemic against an idiotic argument that often goes unchallenged: That raising marginal taxes on the rich has some direct effect on those who don't even dare dream of reaching that level of power. I intend to go in to a LOT more detail on that in the future, because it's an effective logical fallacy that the far right and middle right in the US use a LOT to scare people away from progressive policies that they might otherwise support.
In the USA, I'm pretty radically to the left. Most everywhere else, I'd probably be considered a moderate conservative.
