I've come to the same view by a very different path. I often think that had I been raised as a secular atheist, my life would likely have been better.

On the other hand, perhaps suffering through the crises engendered by the necessary cognitive dissonance of extreme versions of Christianity has so shaped me that I would not have been better off.

In either event, even though Islam is the Western World's second favorite bugbear, Christianity still holds the largest body count.
