..In which I get a little upset with mainstream ignoramuses.

Ok, I’ve been a little lax in pushing on with my series on Universal Basic Income. (2),(3) Mea Culpa, life ain’t easy at end-stage capitalism. My excuse is simple. I have to make a living, and so far, that’s not happening from my writing. I’ve made a couple bucks, which is a nice start, but it don’t exactly give me license to quit my day job. Which got busy.

Onward.

This has gotten on my nerves since I was a young boy. Ignorant sayings repeated vapidly by alleged adults in lieu of even the least semblance of critical thought.

“you can’t fight city hall”. “Just obey the law and nothing bad will happen”. “poor people can’t handle money”. Etc. The worst, though, is this moronic notion held by a lot of people and all conservatives that someone who speaks out to the systemic problems in America hates America. It’s bullshit on it’s face. The people, using the word advisedly, who spew this nonsense have to know better. I mean, really. The autonomic nervous system is pretty marvelous, but that level of non function would, I would think, literally make them incapable of remembering to breathe. Still, it keeps getting said. And this is hardly a new trope. Henry Louis Menken spoke to this back in the 20th century.

I am a practicalist, which means I take political and social ideas from all sides and try to find what works. Mostly Progressive.
